Stop-“Woke” Activism.

Stop Bill 67.

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO

WHEREAS as announced on March 15, 2019, the Ford government’s new Health and Physical Education Curriculum continues to include required teaching of gender identity theory for students too young to receive such teaching;

AND WHEREAS the Toronto, Hamilton-Wentworth, and York Region District School Boards have each released Equity lesson plans developed from intersectionality theories, including critical race theory, which segregates students into “privilege” and “oppression” hierarchies with the intent of treating them differently based on their immutable characteristics as further reinforced in Bill 67, Racial Equity In the Education System Act, 2021;

AND WHEREAS the Halton Catholic School Board held a training workshop for teachers which claimed publicly funded education is a form of covert white supremacy.

We, the undersigned, petition Premier Doug Ford, his government, and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:

  • Stop Bill 67, Racial Equity In the Education System Act, 2021, and stop teaching intersectionality theories, including critical race theory, in our publicly funded schools which contradicts with the principle of equality before the law and with the individual rights of Ontarians pursuant to a liberal democratic society; and

  • Stop teaching gender identity theory to students who are minors in our publicly funded schools; and

  • Commit to a results-based education curriculum that focuses on equal opportunity, meritocracy and educational excellence.

Bill 67, Racial Equity in the Education System Act, 2021 …

On December 22nd, 2021, Ontario NDP MPP, Laura Mae Lindo, tabled Bill 67, Racial Equity in the Education System Act, 2021, to mandate our education system with Critical Race Theory. Click here to read the bill.

Bill 67 is based on the belief that our schools are filled with "systemic racism and discrimination" requiring mandatory programs and training and the ability of bureaucrats to exercise police-like powers to "fine" people, including students, for their "subconscious" and "socially constructed ideas."

On March 3rd, 2022, Bill 67 passed second reading at the Ontario legislature, almost unanimously. All PC MPPs voted in favour of the bill and Derek Sloan’s MPP Rick Nicholls also voted in favour of the bill.

Only New Blue MPP Belinda Karahalios voted against Bill 67.

Belinda explained to the media her reasons,

"I am one of the few MPPs at Queen's Park who is a woman of mixed ethnicity and recognized by the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and fighting racism is something we should strive for. But the details of Bill 67 are based on the dangerous "woke" political ideology of critical race theory and do nothing to fight racism in education. This is a costly "big-government" bill that is designed to vilify our education system and our history as being systemically racist. It attacks, intimidates, and seeks to punish by giving bureaucrats police-like powers to fine ordinary Ontarians, including our children, for language deemed unacceptable in our school system. The fact that PC MPPs and Derek Sloan's ally, Independent MPP Rick Nicholls, all supported this "woke" bill, shows that they merely deceive by pretending to fight for Ontarians when in fact they all support the establishment left-wing narrative peddled by the Justin Trudeau - Doug Ford duo and shows the New Blue Party is the only opposition in Ontario politics."

The Stop-Woke.ca Petition …

The critical social justice movement that has its underpinnings in the Critical Race Theory that makes up Bill 67, advocates for a form of collectivism that seeks to establish a new system of group-based rights by segregating people into categories of “oppressor” and “oppressed” based on their immutable “intersectional” characteristics (i.e. race, gender, religion, sexual orientation).

“Oppressed” identity groups are to be provided with preferential rights to equalize outcomes among groups.  Adherents to the ideology claim (incorrectly) that all economic disparities among groups must be rooted from discrimination.

While adherents of Critical Race Theory and critical social justice publicly brand themselves as advocates for tolerance and inclusion, in practice the implemented policies end up excluding, smearing, or “cancelling” those with opposing views.

This form of collectivism undermines and attacks the fundamental tenants of liberal democracy including the promotion of diverse views, individual rights, freedom of expression, equality before the law, and the rights of parents as first educators of their children.

The critical social justice movement uses tactics to advance and enforce its illiberal ideology such as “repressive tolerance” as it is described in academic terms. In reality, the tactics used end up bullying those who publicly oppose the ideology into silence by calling them racist, sexist, homophobic etc.

The aggressive bullying tactics have allowed the ideology to enter into our education system under the guise of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Parents, teachers, trustees, or other officials in Ontario, who try to voice their concerns about the content of these lesson plans are at risk of being dismissed, vilified, or publicly shamed.

This creates a chill effect as other concerned parents remain quiet in voicing their criticism to avoid the negative consequences associated with speaking out or criticizing the subject matter.

Woke ideology in K-12 education threatens the well-being of our students and our community.

We need to stop the Woke indoctrination in our schools and restore liberal education.

We are calling on concerned parents and citizens from all backgrounds and political affiliations to join push-back efforts against Woke ideology.

Our educational system should focus on individual rights, tolerance for all differences, including reasonable views & opinions, and ensure that it is based on meritocratic system which rewards hard work and achievement.
